Research Highlights

  • Crafted 10,000 words for Upwork.com about how business people can make big data  work for them, including " What is Big Data ?" and " What Can a Data Scientist Do For You ?" (The latter article the top Google search item on "what can a data scientist do for you," as of May 2017).

  • Fact-checked lengthy features for Los Angeles magazine on a wide variety of topics, including water policy & tech, the renovation of LAX, the economic effects of a writer’s strike, an Oscar-winning screenwriter, and 3 distinguished immigrants in L.A.– all errors removed.

  • Fact-checked up to 50 documents a month for Planned Parenthood under intense deadline pressures of 2016 election.

  • Summarized highlights of 30 hours of Sinatra confidant interviews for use by author James Kaplan in his best selling 2-volume biography of the singer; reported on primary Sinatra documents at academic and film libraries, including the Herrick library at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

  • Achieved near perfection as sole fact-checker at UCLA Magazine, with just 2 corrections in 40 issues, in  more than 10 years.

  • Contributed 14,000-words on pre-historic human evolution for Popular Science Evolver ; arranged and conducted interviews of distinguished paleoanthropologists Donald Johanson, Owen Lovejoy, Steven E. Churchill & Daniel E. Liebermanan.  The app won the competitive Min Award in 2013 for best paid tablet app, beating out finalists from Fortune and Sports Illustrated.


In 2009, I assisted award-winning writer Vanessa Grigoriadis as a Bay Area reporter on two lengthy features for New York magazine.

For Los Angeles magazine''s "L.A.'s Best High Schools" issue in September 2008, I did the site visits, interviews, and background reporting for 5 different campuses.

I've also written 14 blog posts for Microsoft about the many fun things there are to do in and around downtown Los Angeles.
